How should I plan 2 or 3 days around Bahariya Oasis?

Two days are enough for one desert outing and a quiet night under the stars; three days let you add the White Desert or a slower day at the hotel. B&W Sahara Sky Hotel is on the Bahariya–Farafra road, about 20 km from Bawiti and under five hours' drive from Cairo, so the Black Desert, Crystal Mountain and the road to Farafra are on your way. Treat the plans below as samples and ask the hotel to confirm routes, times and costs for your dates.

The hotel's price list includes Cairo round-trip packages with a safari for two days and one night, and for three days and two nights, as well as 4x4 trips to the White Desert and the Black Desert. Availability and prices change by season, so confirm them with the hotel.

Day 1: arrive, Bahariya Oasis and sunset

Drive from Cairo in the morning so you arrive in daylight. Stop in Bawiti for the palm groves, springs and the local museum, then continue to the hotel. Use the late afternoon for the pool and the garden, watch the sunset, and plan a quiet evening with stargazing, weather permitting.

Day 2: Crystal Mountain, Black Desert and White Desert

Head south along the Bahariya–Farafra road. Crystal Mountain and the Black Desert are on the way; the White Desert lies further towards Farafra. A full day by 4x4 is common, and some guests prefer an overnight camp so they can see the White Desert at sunset and sunrise. Ask the hotel which route it can arrange and how long it takes.

Day 3 (optional): slow morning and return

Keep the last day light: a late breakfast, time at the pool, a short walk, then the drive back to Cairo in daylight. If you added a night in the desert, allow extra time to return to the hotel and rest.

If you only have two days

Choose one outing, usually the Black Desert and Crystal Mountain, or the White Desert if you prefer the longer drive, and spend the other half-day at the hotel. Add stargazing in the evening instead of a second excursion.

What to confirm before you go

Ask the hotel for the route, start and finish times, the vehicle, whether meals and water are included, entrance fees for protected areas and the total cost. Also check the weather and the moon phase for your dates.
